Anita Basu, BSW, MSW

Anita believes that life’s challenges present opportunities for learning, healing, and growth. As a therapist, her goal is to help you navigate these experiences with greater self-awareness and resilience. She is committed to creating a safe, compassionate, and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions and concerns to cultivate personal meaning in your life.

Anita’s therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based practices that guide clients toward their goals. She integrates psychoeducation to empower individuals with effective coping strategies that foster well-being and self-understanding. Her approach draws from a range of modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness based psychotherapy, and trauma-informed care.

With over 20 years of mindfulness meditation experience and training as a meditation instructor, Anita incorporates mindfulness techniques into her therapeutic work. She has extensive experience working with diverse populations, including professionals, newcomers, refugees, and individuals from 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities.

Anita supports clients facing a variety of challenges, including:

Outside of her clinical work, Anita engages in artistic practices such as abstract painting and ceramics. She also enjoys running, strength training, travelling and spending time in nature.

Anita holds a Master of Social Work degree and is a registered social worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
