ACCOUNTABILITY

Who (or what) are you accountable to?

It’s not always easy to make change in our lives.

Habits take time to form and old habits can be challenging to break or restructure. Having accountability check-ins with a coach, naturopath, nutritionist, friend etc. and structure around your routines can be helpful.

This might look different for different people - and different for different types of goals. For some of us, an app or facebook group might even be a great accountability buddy. Gretchen Rubin has said “We do better when someone’s watching. Even when we’re the ones doing the watching!”

There is a benefit to having someone else help you with the structure and plan for achieving your goals. Tracking your progress - with a journal, an app, weekly check-ins - can be really motivating. Our best strategy for staying accountable to your goals starts with saying it out loud. Let it out into the universe or write it down. Secondly, having support is huge. Get your network on board and maybe even reach out to an external professional to build you you a solid plan. This comes with built-in accountability.

Many of us at the clinic have been pursuing new - or rekindling old - goals. Dr. Fiona has joined a running club with a coach, Dr. Mad has been continuing to commit to her soccer schedule, and Grace has been following a commitment to herself to pursue 100 days of movement or mindfulness. We have all seen the benefits - both mind and body! - of consistency, accountability and support.

If you have big goals and are looking for support, guidance and someone to keep you accountable, we have a variety of practitioners who would love to be part of your journey. Check out our online booking or send us an email to learn more about our services.
